Cayce Police Chief Earns Doctorate of Criminal Justice (DCJ)
The
City of Cayce proudly announces that Police Chief, Dr. Bruce
Wade, has
achieved a major academic milestone, graduating with a Doctorate Degree in
Criminal Justice & Criminology (DCJ) from Keiser University in Fort
Lauderdale, Florida, on Friday, September 12.
Chief
Wade’s accomplishment adds to his extensive law enforcement credentials, which
already include a bachelor’s and master’s degree in criminal justice from
Columbia College. His doctoral project, Implementations of Facial
Recognition in Policing: A Systematic Literature Review, reflects his dedication to advancing
public safety through research-driven innovation.
With
more than 25 years of progressive experience in public safety and law
enforcement leadership, Dr. Wade has built a distinguished career marked by
service, integrity, and professional growth. He began his journey in 1998 at
the South Carolina Department of Corrections, before serving with the Latta
Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, where he rose to
the rank of Lieutenant.
In
2005, Wade joined the West Columbia Police Department, where he quickly
advanced from patrol officer to Investigator, later serving as Captain of
Investigations and, ultimately, Assistant Chief of Police. In April 2025, he
was appointed Chief of Police for the City of Cayce, where he now leads the
department with a commitment to community engagement, officer development, and
forward-thinking public safety strategies.
“Chief
Wade’s achievement is not only a personal milestone but a tremendous asset to
our community,” said Cayce City Manager, Michael Conley. “His leadership,
paired with his continued pursuit of knowledge, ensures that the Cayce Police
Department remains at the forefront of modern policing and community safety.”
Dr.
Wade’s career reflects his belief in lifelong learning and his dedication to
both the profession of law enforcement and the citizens he serves. His latest
academic accomplishment underscores the City of Cayce’s commitment to
leadership that combines experience, education, and innovation.
