Project Background:

This main was installed in the 1970s. Over time, sewer gases have caused deterioration inside the Six Mile Creek main. There have been four significant failures on this line in the past 15 years. This resulted in sewer spills in the environment requiring costly emergency excavations for sewer main replacements and repairs. Lining the sewer main while the pipe is intact is a less disruptive option for our residents and will add 50-60 years to the useful life of this main.

This work involves the installation of a cured-in-place pipe liner in the existing large diameter sewer main, located behind sections of Moss Creek and Old Dunbar Road Neighborhoods. Manholes along the section of lined sewer main in this phase to be rehabilitated as part of this project. The purpose of this project is to proactively address the condition of the existing concrete pipe.
