The City of Cayce is seeking a detail-oriented and
technically minded Pretreatment Technician to support the City's
Industrial Pretreatment Program and help ensure compliance with local, state,
and federal regulations. This position works closely with the Pretreatment
Coordinator and Director of Compliance and Laboratories to monitor industrial users,
collect and evaluate data, conduct field sampling and inspections, maintain
records, and support the City's wastewater pretreatment compliance efforts.
Position Overview
The Pretreatment Technician performs skilled and
semi-skilled work in support of the City's Industrial Pretreatment Program.
Under the general supervision of the Pretreatment Coordinator and Director of
Compliance and Laboratories, this position assists with industrial user
monitoring, inspections, sampling, recordkeeping, data analysis, permit
tracking, and regulatory compliance activities.
Key Responsibilities
MaintainsknowledgeandunderstandingoftheIndustrialPretreatmentProgramforcompliancewithlocal,state,and federal regulations.
Coordinates with otherPretreatment staff as well as contract laboratories to ensure
industrial user sampling follows EPA and SCDHEC NPDES requirements.
Communicatesandcoordinatesregularlywithotherstomaximizetheeffectivenessandefficiencyof interdepartmental
operations and activities.
Attends pretreatment consortium meetings,
workshops, training, etc. to enhance job knowledge and skills and toremain current on the principles,
practices, and requirements of industrial pretreatment.
Receivesandrespondstoinquiries,concerns,complaints,andrequestsforassistancefromcustomersandthegeneral public regarding areas of
responsibility as directed by Pretreatment staff.
Minimum Qualifications
·Preferabachelor’s or associate degree in biology,chemistry,environmentalscienceorotherrelatedprogramor equivalent such as
physical chemical or biological license, oras determined by City of Cayce Pretreatment management.
·Requiresreadingtechnicalinstructions,procedures,manuals,systemmaps,regulations,andchartstosolvepractical problems;composingroutinereportsandspecializedreports,formsandbusinessletterswithproperformat;speaking compound
sentences using normal grammar and word form.
Requiresfrequentproblemsolvingandnormalattentionwithshortperiodsofconcentrationforaccurateresultsand
occasional exposure to unusual pressure.
Abilitytomaintainpositivecustomer-focusedrelationshipswithco-workers,supervisors,agencies,thegeneralpublic, and all other internal and external customers.
