The City has experienced a water main break near the
intersection of Godley Street and New State Road. Customers may
experience brown water while the repair is being made. This discoloration is
typically caused by harmless minerals (such as iron and manganese) that can
become stirred up in water mains during operational changes. There is no
indication the water is unsafe. The discoloration should be temporary.
Customers who notice discolored water may run cold water from a faucet for several
minutes until it clears. It is recommended to avoid washing light-colored
laundry, if discoloration is noticed, until the water runs clear. Customers
will not need to boil water unless system pressure is lost in their area.
Although this is not anticipated, customers will be notified if it becomes
necessary. The City expects the repair to be completed this
afternoon. Customers who have questions may contact Cayce Utilities at
(803) 550-9542.
