Cayce Receives $2.1 Million from Boyd Foundation for 12,000 Year History Park

CAYCE, SC – Yesterday, the City of Cayce accepted a gift in the amount of $2.1 Million from the Boyd Foundation. The generous donation is the amount needed to complete building the Visitor’s Center at Cayce’s 12,000 Year History Park.

Mayor Elise Partin stated, “We are thankful for the gift from The Boyd Foundation to be able to build the visitor center for the 12,000 Year History Park. This park already shows archaeological proof of habitation from 12,000 years ago and is a part of the National Park Service American battlefield plan. To be able to see this vision come to fruition to protect this land and be able to tell the story of everyone who walked it is important to our city to our county to our state and to our nation.”

President of the Board for the Boyd Foundation, Mr. George Bailey, further exclaimed the selection of the Cayce-based project, “This will provide outdoor recreational opportunities; and in this case, it will also be a great tourism attraction and an educational opportunity for children throughout the Midlands area.”

The next step will be to finalize the competitive bid for the construction of the new Visitor’s Center.

About the Boyd Foundation: The values of the Boyd Foundation are rooted in the late Darnall W. Boyd’s strong desire to improve the quality of the lives of those who live, work, and play in the Midlands. Today, those values are championed by Susan Boyd and the other Board members through projects that enhance the outdoors, education, and the preservation of history, to make Columbia a better place to live. The Foundation seeks charitable projects where the impact of the time of its Board members and its financial contribution will be remembered and enjoyed for generations to come.
