Christmas in Cayce activities begin December 4
Christmas in Cayce is sponsored by several corporate partners so all events are free.
Thursday, December 4
6 p.m. – 37th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony
This event is sponsored by The Woman's Club of Cayce and includes greetings from city officials, holiday thoughts, musical selections, and a visit from Santa. Proceeds from the sale of lights for the tree are used to fund community projects and a scholarship program. The Woman's Club is also sponsoring the Cayce Cares food drive and asks that participants donate non-perishable food items.
6 p.m. – The Lights of Cayce
Beginning December 4 and running through the end of the year, visitors can take a ride through the Cayce City Hall complex and enjoy the magic of thousands of twinkling lights, dazzling holiday displays, and music of the season.
6 p.m. – Cayce Neighborhood Tree Lighting
Cayce’s neighborhoods have joined together to provide a little Christmas spirit, too. Each participating neighborhood will line its streets with lighted trees and decorations, offering visitors a ride through a fantasy “winter wonderland.” For more information on this program, call the Cayce Historical Museum at 739-5385.
Friday, December 5
6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. - Carols Along the Riverwalk (N Avenue Entrance, Cayce Riverwalk Pavilion)
The sounds of Christmas can be heard throughout the Cayce Riverwalk Park where several area church choirs and local musicians will be located within the first half mile of the park. Visitors can wander from group to group, enjoying holiday musical selections. The Riverwalk will be lighted with luminaries and hot apple cider will be served free of charge.
Saturday, December 6
6 p.m. – Cayce Historical Museum Annual Holiday Open House
The sights, sounds, and tastes of Christmas will abound at the Museum’s annual Christmas Traditions Holiday Open House. Each room of the Museum will be decorated with trees and crafts from the 18th century to present. The Open House will also feature live entertainment, docents dressed in period attire, and light refreshments.
6 p.m. – War Between the States Lantern Tours
As darkness falls, scenes from the great American war come to life. History and comedy make this event a memorable and popular activity. For more information, call the Cayce Historical Museum at 739-5385.
