Cayce Utilities Announces Sewer Main Break near Indigo Creek
NEWS RELEASE
Cayce Utilities announces a sewer main break along the side of Indigo Creek located on Blake Drive @ Slann Drive in Cayce
Cayce, SC - According to City of Cayce City Manager Rebecca Vance, on June 4, 2015, at approximately 8:49 a.m., there was a sewer spill which resulted in over 5,000 gallons of sewage to flow into Indigo Creek located between Blake and Slann Drive near the Vista Hills Subdivision.
Utility crews were dispatched immediately to determine the cause. The sewer main broke due to excessive rain that caused erosion and the road to collapse; and as a result caused Indigo Creek to flood and flow into the Congaree River.
SC DHEC has been notified of the spill.
Cayce utility officials are in the process of repairing the sewer main and cleanup will begin when the flow is restored.
